Knox Replacement
There is one replacement for the regular Knox Mountain hikes on Thursday.  On July 22 we will have a wander out at Drought Mountain.  Meet at Sportchek at 6 pm at the regular spot for the weekend hikes (far corner of the Orchard Mall parking lot closest to the corner of Cooper and Springfield) and then we'll proceed to the start of the trail, which is in West Kelowna.  If you live in West Kelowna you can meet us at the old Cooper's parking lot.  Make sure you are there by 6:20 pm.   We'll make a brief pitstop, but if you're not there on we will go.

COHC on Facebook

If you're a Facebook regular just search for COHC and it will pop up.  If you're not on Facebook then you'll need to join (www.facebook.com) and then you can search out the COHC site.

Bicycling

Do we have biking trips for you!  Don't forget a spare tube and tire irons to change the tire.  Please note that wearing bicycle helmets is the law in the province.  Some of us don't wear them anyway, but some bicycle leaders will insist.  If you are disinclined to wear a bike helmet check with the trip coordinator to see if they will let you tag along.

On Saturday, August 14 Bernie is organizing a bike trip from Myra Road to Penticton on the KVR.  This is 80 km with a picnic lunch at the Chute Lake Resort, a swim, dinner & beer in Penticton afterward.  Bernie is putting together a ride up to the trail head ($20) and a ride back to Kelowna ($30).  He has to reserve these rides and he can only take 20 people.  Call Bernie if you're interested at 250-450-9720.

Hike Up & Chow Down

On Sunday, August 15 Del will lead a trip around Kalamalka Park.  It is a gourmet hike (that means potluck, so bring something for four people), to be followed by a swim.  If you are coming on this please RSVP Del by e-mail to delabela@telus.net.

Hiking Africa for a Good Cause

Sheila MacGregor is going to hike Kilimanjaro in Africa.  No, this is not an invitation to join her, but in addition to the climb, they are raising money for Organics for Orphans.  they are doing a fundraising event on July 26 at the Minstrel Cafe with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity.  You can get more information by checking out www.kilimanjaro2010.ca.

Central Okanagan Naturalists Club

The CONC is looking for new members.  CONC has many different hikes, spends more time on exploring nature than we do and generally hikes at a slower pace.  If you're interested contact Dianne Hayley (dhayley@shaw.ca 250-767-3383) and check out their website at www.okanagannature.org .

August Planning Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 4 at 6:30 pm at Choices Market, located on Highway 97 just east of Spall (next to the Esso station).
